The United Kingdom is set to progress with using the total value of immobilized Russian holdings to support Ukraine's war effort, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has announced.

In a collective announcement, the heads of state of the UK, France, and Germany asserted that this coordinated action would increase strain on Russian President Vladimir Putin and persuade the Russian Federation to engage in negotiations.

They added that the move would be executed in tight collaboration with the America.

UK sanctions have frozen over £25bn of Russia's funds since the Russian government began its widespread offensive against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. However, up to this point, funds allocated to the Ukrainian government using Russian assets had exclusively been sourced from profits and interest generated on them.

Sir Keir assured Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and Germany were in agreement in their goal to advance efforts toward utilizing the full value of the frozen Moscow's national funds to end the war.

He noted that further restrictions soon would heighten the tension on Russia.

This announcement follows European Union officials gathered in Copenhagen last week to consider utilizing immobilized Russia's funds for a €140bn loan to Ukraine.

Recently, President Donald Trump urged G7 allies to seize or otherwise use immobilized Russia's assets, according to reports.

The value of immobilized Russia's assets in the European Union is estimated to be nearly €211bn.

The Russian government executed widespread missile and drone strikes all over the Ukrainian territory on recently, resulting in blackouts in large parts of Kyiv, the city, and several other zones.

Several persons were fatally injured and a minimum of 20 people were wounded in the attack, the Ukrainian government stated.

In a message on social media subsequent to the incident, Zelensky commented that the premeditated assault aimed at non-military and power facilities.

"The necessity is not empty words but firm measures - from the United States, EU, and the Group of Seven - in providing air defence systems and implementing penalties," he wrote.

"Each restrictive measure diminishes Moscow's military apparatus," Zelensky wrote, in a different message.

In the same period, Zelensky told the press he would encourage Sir Keir to enter the PURL programme, under which partner nations buy military equipment from the America to provide to the Ukrainian forces.

While applauding the UK's strong support for Ukraine, he said it should demonstrate clearly that it would take part in the initiative, as well as impose more restrictions on Russia.
