This Swine Life: Pig Named 6-7 Pardoned by Miami Dade County Mayor.
While perhaps not at the identical stature as sparing festive fowl, but the county's top official had her own presidential-style act this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.
Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.
“This pig is innocent. She deserves this act of mercy. She has committed zero crimes,” stated the mayor in a speech with inescapable allusions to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued since the commencement of a current administration.
“Unless you count eating six or seven apples per day,” the mayor added. “Let this swine have a prosperous future free from concern.”
The gathering, simultaneously observing and challenging the area's customary feast of consuming swine during the holidays, was founded to emulate the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.
The swine, contributed by a first responder, was christened after the popular vernacular phrase of young people yelling “six seven” – deriving from a hip-hop line – often for no discernable reason. The craze became so ubiquitous that a leading lexicon site recently made “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.
A Future Secured
This particular pig is now destined to live out its days at a countryside refuge “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the organizers' announcement.
“This swine clemency has become a beloved tradition to begin the holiday season,” said the event host, in a decidedly positive message.
“It embodies the character of Miami: happy, multicultural, and grounded in customs that unite the community. Every time, we are honored to observe culture and compassion in a way distinctively Miamian.”
Guests enjoyed a meat-free selection of croquettes and strong coffee as they toasted Six Seven’s big moment.
