Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's understandable for questions to be raised about his future following another heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their 9th loss in 12 matches, representing the team's worst run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I've received plenty of backing from management,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to turn it around and secure a win obviously but if you are working as a coach and struggling then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I am OK with my position. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with The Board

When asked to expand on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They assist for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “In the normal discussions I perceive the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them since this game so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Issues and Player Response

Slot expressed regret over recurring shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones remarked.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side going through a spell of this nature with outcomes so bad.”

He stated, “However we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And until that badge is taken away, we will always compete.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad back to the top, prove again what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the best team in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
