American actor Pat Finn, who was seen in beloved television series like "Friends", Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away at 60 years old.
The skilled improv artist succumbed at his home in Los Angeles, California this Monday following treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, as reported by news outlets.
"He saw everyone as a friend - only friends he hadn't encountered," his loved ones shared in a announcement.
They continued that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with happiness and energy".
A Prolific Career on Screen
Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.
He was also seen in a recurring role on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.
He starred as the character Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a social organizer known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.
During the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on numerous popular shows, including:
- "King of Queens"
- Friends
- "That '70s Show"
- "House"
Finn was perhaps best known for playing Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight seasons from 2011 to 2018.
His film credits are It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
Off-Screen Life
Outside of his acting parts, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.
He was part of a comedy group of six named Beer Shark Mice.
"Pat coached, befriended and mentored countless students over the years and it's nearly impossible to find a person anyplace who has a bad thing to say about him," his loved ones expressed.
Offering condolences, peer Richard Kind remarked there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, helping you be funnier and better. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote online.
Pat Finn is leaves behind his wife Donna, three children, and his family.
