Aerial Imagery Show Iranian Navy and Nuclear Locations Damaged by Joint US and Israeli Attacks.

A wave of US and Israeli strikes has reportedly eliminated or harmed no fewer than 11 Iranian naval vessels since the weekend, new orbital imagery demonstrate, with missile bases and nuclear sites also being targeted.

Photographs of the southerly Konarak naval military port and the Bandar Abbas port facility, which sits on the Strait of Hormuz and is home to the headquarters of the Iranian navy, show smoke billowing from multiple warships on recent days.

Maritime Fleet Sustained Major Losses

Among the targets eliminated was the IRINS Makran, the country's most sizable ship which had functioned as a unmanned aerial vehicle platform. Satellite images showed black smoke pouring from the vessel which had been moored at the Bandar Abbas naval base.

Intelligence assessments indicate that at least a quintet of warships at Bandar Abbas were "struck or destroyed". Imagery of the south end of the harbor reveal plumes ascending from the IRINS Makran, while two other vessels seem to be damaged, with one of them visibly ablaze.

At the Konarak base, images show multiple harmed vessels, with intelligence reports pointing to strikes against six ships. Images from the start of the week also indicate that a number of structures at the installation have been destroyed.

"For decades the Iran's leadership has disrupted global maritime traffic," the head of US Central Command declared. "At present, there is not one vessel from Iran operational in the Persian Gulf, Hormuz Strait or Gulf of Oman, and we will continue."

A number of vessels allegedly sunk may have been obscured in satellite images by haze or plumes, or hit in open waters, and have not been independently verified. Separate reports indicated that an Iranian vessel was sinking off the coast of Sri Lanka's waters, resulting in a search and rescue mission.

Missile Installations and Nuclear Locations Targeted

Neutralizing Iran's rocket sites and the prevention of enrichment activities were stated as additional goals of the air campaign. Satellite images also showed impacts against the southern Khorgu base and northwestern Tabriz missile missile bases, and at the Konarak air base, where rocket warehouses and bunkers were hit.

At the Choqa Balk-e drone unmanned aircraft site to the west of Kermanshah, extensive destruction was seen to sheds, underground facilities and UAV launching apparatus.

Destruction was also noted at a radar site at the Zahedan airbase military airport in eastern Iran, close to the border with neighboring nations.

Perhaps most notably, the new round of strikes have reportedly focused on sites at Natanz – long said to be at the center of Iran's nuclear programme. A global monitoring agency commented that the affected buildings were used for access to the facility's underground enrichment facility and that "no radiological consequence" was expected.

Broader Impact and Analysis

Defense experts suggested that the strikes appeared to have "largely neutralized" the Iran's naval capability to sustain conventional attacks using its largest vessels. However, it was stressed that Iran retains the option to launch irregular strikes at sea through the use of drones, midget subs and its so-called "shadow fleet" of tankers.

The overall extent of the damage caused to Iranian military facilities has yet to be fully assessed, with hostilities reportedly ongoing. Photos also reveals considerable damage to the command center of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the capital Tehran.

Numerous of civilian buildings also seem to have been hit in the capital and across the country since the conflict began. Toll estimates from local officials suggest that hundreds of civilians may have been lost their lives in the strikes.

With the conflict ongoing, review of satellite imagery will persist to document the unfolding scope of damage.
